This year, both en-en and me celebrated Chinese New Year in Singapore with all our families. While en-en spent her 2 days off with food, food, and family meeting, things went a bit different for me. My mom requested me to bring her to a place she has not been to or to a place she has not visited for a long time. After discussing with my sister, we decided to pay a visit to Singapore Zoo on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year.
My dad told me that the last time he visited Singapore Zoo was in 1991 with my grand parents, and that...was like 20 years ago! I myself can't really recall the last time I went to the zoo. I remember visiting Jurong Bird Park somewhere in February 2009 and Night Safari in January 2010 - both with Singapore Photographers Group, but that doesn't count as visiting zoo itself.

Here are some of my favorite photos...

My dad told me that the last time he visited Singapore Zoo was in 1991 with my grand parents, and that…was like 20 years ago! I myself can’t really recall the last time I went to the zoo. I remember visiting Jurong Bird Park somewhere in February 2009 and Night Safari in January 2010 – both with Singapore Photographers Group, but that doesn’t count as visiting zoo itself.

For this time, I brought only our D3s and Nikkor 135mm f/2 DC with me to the zoo. Something about our 135mm f/2, this lens is the most under utilized lens we have. And that’s kinda sad. I love the lens so much! It’s very sharp, it produces very nice bokeh, it has DC feature, and its build is very solid. And those are the reasons why I bought the lens on the first place. Some experts out there said that this lens is the best and sharpest lens for portrait, some prefer the Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 because of its focal length. It’s just individual preference. And one reason why we seldom use this lens is because we prefer the Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 for all our assignments. So, I was very happy to get a good chance to shoot with this lens again.. =)

Hope you guys did have a wonderful reunion with your families too.

Here are some of my favorite photos…

The following photo is en-en’s favorite, she called it… “the butt face” monkey.. haha =D This white-faced monkey is very cute, he just sat on the announcement board and attracted all the visitors.

Shot this giant tortoise through the glass..

Have you ever seen a baby crocodile on the loose?? Found this fella on the rock near the visitor’s pathway…

All white tigers that exist now inherits from a white tiger called Mohan which was captured by Maharaja of India in 1951. There is only 1 white tiger among 10,000 orange tigers and there are only 7,000 tigers left in this world. And, there are 3 white tigers at Singapore Zoo, all came from Sumatra – Indonesia. Amazing!

Hi everyone, we just realized that we've been absent for quite some time from our blog. And also just realized that this post is actually our first post in 2011. Yup! We're still alive out here.. :P

The past 2 months have been the most hectic months for us. We've been away from home most of our time, spent Christmas and New Year in Singapore with quite a number of shoot assignments before Christmas, in between Christmas and New Year, and after New Year. We've posted some sneak peek photos on our fanpage and will soon be posting the full sets for you. Can't wait!! So stay tune guys!

Currently we've been away from home for about 2 weeks and still 1 week to go before we head back home. We went to attend the inaugural CreativeAsia Conference in Kuala Lumpur (I'll blog more about CreativeAsia Conference & the Photo Competition later on) before coming down to Singapore for some job assignment and workshop. Now since all the work is done, we are going to take a short break to spend Chinese New Year here with our families :)

It's been gloomy these past few days here as it's been raining heavily nonstop for the past 3 days (it's still pouring heavily out there as I'm typing this). I really wonder where all the water comes from, it's like there is something or someone unlimitedly supplying the water to the cloud up there. It doesn't look like it's gonna stop anytime soon. I guess we're gonna have a very wet Chinese New Year here...

Hope you guys stay warm and dry out there and have a wonderful family reunion :)
